About Albania

Albania are late bloomers when it comes to international competition and only competed in their first major tournament in 2016 at the European Championship in France. They only scored one goal and won one match at the finals – a 1-0 victory against Romania in which Armando Sadiku scored just before the break. In their other fixtures, they were defeated by the hosts, France, and Switzerland. They have enjoyed better historical success in smaller tournaments, such as the Balkan Cup, which they won in 1946. Lorik Cana has the most caps for Albania, while Erjon Bogdani has scored the most goals for his country.
