Chelsea will face an almighty task on their return to domestic football on Saturday as they travel to Leicester City with high hopes of claiming all three points and staying top of the Premier League table.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have managed to work their way past opponents over the past month despite numerous injuries, but it remains to be seen whether Brendan Rodgers’ ambitious team will prove too tough for the European champions.
In defence the London club are still without left-back Marcos Alonso, so Tuchel will likely stick with a back three of Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Marcus Christensen, in front of Edouard Mendy in goals.
Ben Chilwell and Cesar Azpilicueta are likely to reprise their roles as left and right wing-back on the day, with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho tasked with keeping Leicester’s impressive midfielder at bay, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek plays a slightly more advanced role in the centre of midfield in place of Mateo Kovacic.
With Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku still out of action, Tuchel will likely turn to Callum Hudson-Odoi and Kai Havertz to play a dynamic front two and get the better of Leicester on the day.
