Arsenal vs Brighton Premier League Prediction and Preview: Gunners go for three in a row

Arsenal are looking to win their third game straight at the start of the new campaign when they face league leaders Brighton on Saturday

There are only four teams with a 100% record in the Premier League so far this season and two of them do battle on Saturday as Arsenal host current league leaders, Brighton, at the Emirates.

The Gunners defeated Wolves on the opening day and then Aston Villa last week, while Brighton destroyed Everton on Matchday One before impressively beating Manchester United at home.

At least one team will leave the match this weekend without that 100% record intact.

Match Preview

Arsenal recent form

As mentioned above, Arsenal have won two out of two so far in the league, beating Wolves 2-0 with Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz scoring, and then beating Aston Villa by the same scoreline last week, with Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey scoring in the second period.

They are one of only two sides yet to concede a goal.

Arsenal injury news

Gabriel Jesus sustained a groin injury and was left out of the squad for the Villa game. The issue is not believed to be serious, but he'll likely be absent again for Brighton.

Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) and Kieran Tierney (hamstring) are definitely out.

Mikel Merino is in line to make his debut after signing from Real Sociedad this week.

Brighton recent form

Brighton have been one of the most impressive teams at the start of the new campaign and currently sit pretty at the top of the Premier League.

On the opening day, they humbled Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park with Kaoru Mitoma, Danny Welbeck and Simon Adingra netting the goals.

Last week, they snatched all three points against Man Utd late on, winning 2-1 thanks to a header from Joao Pedro.

Midweek, they defeated Crawley 4-0 in the League Cup.

Brighton injury news

Unfortunately for Brighton, new signing Matt O'Riley suffered an injury just nine minutes into his debut in the League Cup during the week after a shocking tackle, and it is looking likely that he'll need surgery.

Solly March is definitely out, too, but Brajan Gruda, Mats Wieffer and Evan Ferguson could make their first appearances of the season.

Arsenal - Player to Watch?

Bukayo Saka has already opened his account for the season with that goal against Wolves, and although he wasn't at his best against Aston Villa, he'll be eager to impress again in front of the Emirates crowd.

Brighton - Player to Watch?

Joao Pedro was one of the best players on the pitch last week against Man Utd and used his physicality very well to bully the United defence and midfield at times, while he also got the winning goal to cap off his performance.

Arsenal vs Brighton - Prediction

Arsenal have scored in five of their last six home games, while Brighton have scored in four and conceded in four of their last six away games.
