Chelsea cemented their position in the top four of the Premier League with a comfortable 2-0 win over Everton at Stamford Bridge.
It was a performance that was largely without flair, but the hosts rarely looked troubled by Carlo Ancelotti’s men as they moved four points clear of the Toffees in the standings.
An own goal from Ben Godfrey in the first half was added to by a penalty from Jorginho in the second as the Blues picked up a vital victory.
But who shone for them?
Chelsea 2-0 Everton: Player Ratings, Match Stats, Player Stats
✔️ Andreas Christensen: 7.6
The defence continues to shine under Thomas Tuchel, and this encounter was no exception as Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen were the key figures.
Azpilicueta topped 100 touches, made six recoveries and three clearances.
Christensen, though was the key man – the Dane completed a higher percentage of his passes and won more of his duels.
With two players in such fine form, it is little wonder that Chelsea are conceding so few goals.
❌ Timo Werner: 5.9
The summer signing’s struggles go on. In general, he has been able to count on eclipsing compatriot Kai Havertz, but that was not the case against Everton. As the former Bayer Leverkusen man was the catalyst for the opening goal, Werner did little of note aside from missing two big opportunities when clear on goal.
Is clearly lacking in confidence and was out fought in his duels.
This was a game that will only lead to the pressure mounting further on him.
⭐ Jorginho: 7.7
The highlight of his game was a penalty conversion in the second half that put the match beyond doubt.
Before then, he played the role that is now expected of him on a match-by-match basis by Thomas Tuchel, retaining possession and keeping the play ticking over.
Indeed, he was a little more offensively orientated that is often the case. He had a match-high three shots, completed a couple of dribbles and even completed a commendable number of passes in the final third.
