Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has admitted that PSG manager Thomas Tuchel is a fantastic manager but also a “difficult person” to work with.
Tuchael worked with Watzke as Dortmund manager for two seasons before being fired, after winning just one trophy in the 2016-17 DFB Pokal.
However, Tuchel’s departure from the Bundesliga club was marred with controversy, with the manager reportedly clashing with Watzke on numerous occasions over transfers and player selections.
The German coach later joined PSG after taking a year out of management, but it seems as though his former employer hasn’t forgotten the impression he left on the Bundesliga side.
“Sometimes there are just things that just don't harmonize,” said Watzke.
“It didn't work with any of the protagonists at BVB. But I wouldn't count [Thomas] Tuchel among my enemies either.
“We split up because it just didn't fit. Thomas is a difficult person, you can see that in Paris now. But a fantastic trainer.”
Now in his third season at the Ligue 1 side, Tuchel has won no less than two league titles and a French Cup.
However, despite reaching the final of last season’s Champions League, the German manager still faces pressure from some for not winning the European trophy with talents such as Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in his side.
