Europa league team news: How Arsenal could line up against Slavia Prague

With European qualification via the Premier League unlikely, Mikel Arteta's future could rest on Arsenal's success in the Europa League

Arsenal face Slavia Prague in the quarter-final of the Europa League on Thursday, as they look to build a comfortable lead before a trip to the Czech Republic next week.

Defeat to Liverpool all but confirmed the Gunners will be without European football next season, unless Mikel Arteta's side can win this competition.

Arteta's side will be without key player Kieran Tierney due to a knee injury that could keep him out for six weeks, weakening a defence that has conceded three goals in its last two fixtures.

Cedric Soares came on for the Scotsman on Saturday, so will likely feature in his less favourable of the full-back positions.

The continued absence of David Luiz means Rob Holding and Gabriel will be the centre-back pairing, with Calum Chambers continuing to take Hector Bellerin's place on the right.

Granit Xhaka's physicality was missed at the weekend, meaning his return to the team alongside big-money signing Thomas Partey is probable.

Bukayo Saka has been Arsenal's best player this season, and will give a boost to the team in his return to the wing.

Martin Odegaard is another who suffered a knock but should be back in time to face the Czech champions.

Many have questioned the persistent selection of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in the same team, but it would be a surprise for either to be on the substitutes bench.

Slavia Prague overcame Rangers in the previous round, but Arsenal should prevail in this tie and make it to the semi-final stage.
