Rio Ferdinand says the way Manchester United are currently behaving in the transfer window is frustrating.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made just one signing this season in the form of Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

However, over the past six months their main target has been Jadon Sancho of Dortmund, with them involved in constant negotiations with Dortmund for the signature of the England winger.

The German side won't budge on their £120m valuation of Sancho, with United failing to meet that price as of yet.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have spent in excess of £200m on Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, and Ben Chilwell.

Ferdinand wishes United would be more proactive in their transfer dealings, like Chelsea.

“Frank has made signing players like it's the norm, like it's easy – water off a duck's back,” the former United star told the Five YouTube channel.

“The difference in the way Chelsea have done their business compared to say my team Man United… there is no noise, there's nothing going on, all you're seeing is bang – deal. Little bit of talk, bang-deal.

“That is what's frustrating for me and all the Man United fans. Sancho was talked about months ago. Still not done, it's so frustrating.

“I'm not saying deals are easy to be done but Chelsea are showing deals can be done if you put the money down and it's all done in the right way.”

Ferdinand's former team-mate Gary Neville previously described Man Utd of looking "desperate" whenever they try to buy someone.

They had been interested in Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon of Real Madrid, but are set to lose out on the pair who are close to joining Tottenham.
