Zlatan Ibrahimovic has described Dejan Kulusevski's omission from Sweden's starting XI against France as a 'f*cking joke'.

Sweden took on France in the Nations League on Saturday, with 35-year-old Sebastian Larsson of AIK selected in the starting line-up ahead of Kulusevski.

Kulusevski has been in magical form for Parma this season on loan from Juventus, contributing to 18 goals in 36 appearances via 10 scored himself and eight assists.

His form wasn't enough to persuade Sweden head coach Janne Andersson to start him against Les Bleus, though - a decision which former Sweden striker Ibrahimovic blasted on social media.

"What a f*cking joke. Further proof. Incompetent people in the wrong positions that suffocate Swedish football," he wrote on Twitter.

Kulusevski himself was also surprised at not being included as he felt his performances in Serie A and his work in training had merited a place in the starting XI.

"No, I don't think so. I was shocked," the winger responded after the France game when asked if 20 minutes off the bench provided him with a platform to impact proceedings.

"It felt really, really good in training. But unfortunately, that's how football is."

There is no love lost between Ibrahimovic and Andersson, as the former previously stated his desire to return to action for Sweden at the 2018 World Cup after previously retiring, only to be left out of the squad by the national team boss.
