Now that the football is back, so are the kneejerk reactions for chairmen with financial concerns even more pertinent than ever.

❌ GONE - JONATHAN WOODGATE (Middlesbrough)

Middlesbrough have been awful for most of the season barring a brief revival just after Christmas, but just a single game back into the Championship season, the club have taken the decision to remove Woodgate, their 3-0 capitulation at home to Swansea the last straw.

They have moved quickly; many of many, many clubs, Neil Warnock, has been drafted in an attempt to save them from relegation and, likely, financial disaster. Boro are level with Hull City on 41 points, who currently occupy the final relegation position in the Championship table, and demotion to League 1 would be a real crisis for either club.

Warnock, who was last seen at Cardiff, was thought to be retired but has emerged (not for the first time in his career) in a Hail Mary attempt to retain the club's status in the league. He has eight games to do it.

❌ GONE - RUBI (Real Betis)

Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Real Betis: Player Ratings and Statistics

Rubi's style of play and approach to the game has run out of patience in Andalucia, with the 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao the final nail for a coach who has been under pressure for quite some time.

Ironically their recent 2-1 victory over league leaders Real Madrid was their one and only win in their last 11 matches and the age old problem of not scoring many and conceding quite a lot not resulting in positive results.

The 2-0 loss when everyone was watching, the first La Liga match back, in the derby against Sevilla, was a really poor performance and Betis have already lined up their replacement - Alexis Trujillo, the former sporting director, will take the reins, with the club eight points clear of the relegation positions.
