Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz produced a brilliant individual display in the 4-1 away win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Havertz was at the heart of everything good about Thomas Tuchel's side, and the 21-year-old undoubtedly produced his best performance of the season, scoring one and providing an assist for the other.

Havertz hasn't shown the kind of form that won him his big-money move from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

However this was unquestionably his best performance of the season for the London outfit.

GOAL ⏱️ 8’’

Havertz received the ball just inside the box after a give-and-go with Callum Hudson-Odoi down on the right-hand side of the Palace half. Havertz turned towards goal, shifted the ball on to his left foot, and used the Palace defenders as a shield, bending the ball past them into the bottom corner of Vicente Guaita's goal.

A wonderfully executed strike, and his second of the season.

ASSIST ⏱️ 10’’

Two minutes later, Havertz turned provider.

The away side put multiple passes together inside the Palace half. Ben Chilwell found Havertz inside the Palace penalty area.

Havertz's slick pass found Christian Pulisic, who took one touch to control the ball, and smashed a left foot shot into the Palace goal, giving Guaita with no chance to react.

Havertz: What Next?

This was the kind of performance that all Chelsea fans have been waiting for from Havertz since his arrival.

He's suffered from being constantly shifted into different positions under the now-departed coach Frank Lampard. Havertz's performances reflected the uncertainty in Lampard's tactical decisions.

Patience is clearly needed with the 21-year-old, but he will be hoping that this performance against Palace will convince Thomas Tuchel to keep faith in him, and give him a run of games to prove his worth in England.
