Lionel Messi once again proved why he is the best player in La Liga this weekend as he put in a brilliant performance as Barcelona defeated Huesca 4-1.

Messi (10) scored a perfect 10 FC rating for his outing, which included two goals scored plus an assist.

It was the game in which the Argentine matched Xavi for the most appearances for the Blaugrana on 767, and he quickly marked the occasion with a magnificent strike in off the underside of the crossbar to make it 1-0 before later scoring with another lovely, curled attempt for his second.

Messi had the second-most touches of any player in this round of fixtures and sent more passes into the final third than anyone with 44.

Antoine Griezmann (7.9) enjoyed a good outing, too, as he got on the scoresheet with a spectacular whipped strike high into the top left corner which was arguably better than Messi's earlier effort.

Real Madrid narrowly defeated Elche 2-1, and again had to rely on Karim Benzema (9.0) as their saviour as the Frenchman scored both goals including the winner which came in injury time.

Gerard Moreno (8.3) makes up the front four following his pair of assists for Villarreal in a 3-1 away win at Eibar.

Nobody had more touches this week than Sergio Busquets (8.2) with 134, while the World Cup winner also completed a superb 115/124 attempted passes.

Renato Tapia (7.9) joins him in midfield.

Alfonso Pedraza (7.5) scored for Villarreal, while Jesus Navas (7.8) on the opposite flank recorded an assist for Sevilla.

Oscar Mingueza (8.4) got on the scoresheet for Barcelona and misplaced just four passes the entire game, while winning the majority of his duels and tackles, too.

He is joined in the centre of defence by Yeray Alvarez (8.1) of Athletic Bilbao.

Getafe earned a 0-0 draw at home to Atletico Madrid, with goalkeeper David Soria (8.8) earning his clean sheet bonus after making seven saves between the sticks to continually deny Diego SImeone's men.
