Luis Suarez to Juventus 'very difficult', says Pirlo

Andrea Pirlo has admitted that it will be 'very difficult' to secure the transfer of Luis Suarez from Barcelona, as a issue with his Italian passport application looks set to scupper any deal.

The Uruguayan has been made surplus to requirements in Catalunya this season, with the Spanish giants making public that they are keen to offload his sizeable £14m salary.

Suarez had already turned down a move to MLS with Inter Miami in a deal which would have made him the highest-paid player in the history of US soccer.

And a move to Turin looked to be close to completion, with Suarez travelling to complete an interview in order to be granted an Italian passport and allow Juve to navigate restrictions on non-EU players.

But the process of completing the paperwork is taking longer than expected and Pirlo said of the move: "Passport times are long, it'd be difficult for him to be a Juventus striker.

"We are all waiting for the striker, but we are in no hurry."

It is believed that Juve have already turned their attention to alternatives, with Roma's Edin Dzeko moving to the top of the list.

The prolific Bosnian is available for around £15m and will plug the gap left by Gonzalo Higuain, who departed the club for Inter Miami earlier this month.
