Real Madrid will attempt to go back to the top of the Primera Division table on Wednesday when they tackle Real Mallorca at the Bernabeu.
Los Blancos could only watch on as Atletico Madrid scored two late goals to overcome a deficit against Getafe on Tuesday, but they had done similar to defeat Valencia at the weekend.
Indeed, Carlo Ancelotti’s side appeared destined for a first Primera Division loss of the season as they trailed with four minutes left, yet a double from Karim Benzema turned the match in their favour.
Real Madrid will expect to maintain the momentum from that dramatic success at home against the islanders.
Ancelotti does not have his problems to seek on the injury front, notably in the full-back areas. The Italian will be without Marcelo and Ferland Mendy at left-back once more, so Miguel Gutierrez will deputise. On the right, Lucas Vazquez should play as Dani Carvajal is injured.
Eduardo Camavinga has impressed off the bench thus far and could be handed a first start given that Toni Kroos is missing. Regulars Casemiro and Luka Modric should continue.
In attack, meanwhile, Gareth Bale is out. Nevertheless, Vinicius Junior’s form has been excellent on the left and he may well beat the Wales international star to a regular starting spot now even when both are fit.
Eden Hazard and the in-form Benzema should complete the starting XI.
