1. Daniel Sturridge SCORING AGAIN

The former Liverpool forward's career in Turkey has got off to a slow start, with a series of substitute appearances and little in the way of goals, but Sturridge produced his best performance yet and broke his duck in Trabzonspor's 4-1 mauling of Gaziantep in the Turkish Super Lig. He had an excellent all-round match, scoring a 7.9, and opened the scoring with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box before celebrating in style. Sturridge has been around for a while, but he's still only 30.

2. Alex Meret'S STUNNING TRIPLE SAVE

Napoli were able to secure a 2-0 win over Verona thanks mainly to the finishing of Arkadiusz Milik, who scored twice, but goalkeeper Alex Meret produced something truly special. In the space of a single attack he made three close-range blocks to deny the visitors, the second scoop away with his hand a particularly superb stop, and this built the foundation for Napoli's triumph.

3. MEXICAN STAND-OFF

Bizarre events in Mexico, as Veracruz's players refuse to play for the opening spell of their match against Tigres to protest unpaid salaries over the past few months. The plot thickens when Mexican TV reported that Tigres were fully aware of the protest.... and decided to play on anyway, scoring three goals while the Veracruz players stood statuesque.

4. 2,000 Ajax FANS ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

After London police decided to place a ban on away fans ahead of Chelsea welcoming Ajax to Stamford Bridge this week, it left 2,000 Ajax fans with nothing to do, given they had already booked their travel and accommodation for the trip. So rather than go without, they've decided to look for another match nearby and, lo and behold, Leyton Orient loos set to accept the Dutch travellers for their match against Brighton U21s in the prestigious leasing.com trophy.

5. TO BE FRANCK, IT'S NOT HIM

And finally, Franck Ribery has every right to be annoyed with his appearance in FIFA 20. Are graphics getting better when the French superstar looks... nothing like this?
