Juventus could have to make do without Paulo Dybala for an extended period of time after the Argentine limped off with a knee injury over the weekend.
Dybala was forced off in the first half of Juve’s 3-1 Serie A win over Sassuolo, and head coach Andrea Pirlo confirmed the possibility of ligament damage post-match.
“Dybala has a blunt trauma a little below the knee,” he said.
The 27-year-old has two goals and two assists so far this season in a campaign that has already been Interrupted by injury, carrying over from the Champions League knockout stages over the summer.
All of those goals and assists had come in Dybala’s last three Serie A starts prior to the Sassuolo match.
A potentially serious injury likely to produce a lengthy layoff, this could be a big blow for Juventus’ hopes of making their way back into the title race with Dybala beginning to hit form.
American midfielder Weston McKennie also went down in the match, lasting just 19 minutes before his substitution.

The 22-year-old has performed well since arriving from Schalke at the beginning of the season, making 13 league appearances so far in his debut season.
The only positive of that injury was McKennie’s replacement, Aaron Ramsey, scoring the goal that had Juventus in front eight minutes from time.
Juve’s strength in depth should see them through both injuries, with the likes of Dejan Kulusevksi and Alvaro Morata able to fill in for Dybala alongside Cristiano Ronaldo up front, as well as Federico Chiesa and Federico Bernardeschi in the wide positions.
In midfield, Ramsey will be eager for more action, as will Adrien Rabiot as they look to compete with Arthur and Rodrigo Bentancur for positions in the middle.
