The Copa America holders and reigning world champions, Argentina, face off against Peru at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida on Sunday.

Argentina aims to maintain their perfect record in Group A, while Peru needs a win to advance to the knockout stage.

Team Form

Argentina

Argentina secured their spot in the quarter-finals after a narrow 1-0 victory against Chile.

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez scored the decisive goal, maintaining Argentina’s unbeaten run in the group.

They have an impressive record, losing only two of their last 59 international matches since 2019.

Argentina has also won their last seven games in all competitions by an aggregate score of 15-2.

Peru

Peru is at risk of exiting the Copa America group stage for the first time since 1995.

They have only one point from their first two matches, drawing 0-0 with Chile and losing 1-0 to Canada.

Goals have been hard to come by for Peru, as they have failed to score in eight of their last 12 international matches.

Their recent form against Argentina is also poor, having failed to score in their last four meetings.

Team News

Argentina

Coach Lionel Scaloni is set to make changes to the lineup, giving chances to players who haven't featured yet.

Lionel Messi might be rested due to a minor hamstring issue. Players like Lucas Martinez Quarta, German Pezzella, Exequiel Palacios, Guido Rodriguez, and Alejandro Garnacho are expected to start.

Possible Starting XI: Armani; Montiel, Otamendi, Pezzella, Acuna; Mac Allister, Rodriguez, Palacios; Di Maria, Lautaro Martinez, Garnacho

Peru

Peru will be without suspended defender Miguel Araujo. Anderson Santamaria may replace him in the defense.

Luis Advincula's participation is doubtful due to an Achilles injury.

Possible Starting XI: Gallese; Santamaria, Zambrano, Callens; Polo, Pena, Cartagena, Quispe, Lopez; Lapadula, Flores

Prediction

Argentina is expected to dominate the game. Peru’s struggles in front of goal and their need for a win make this a challenging match for them.

Historically, Peru has not beaten Argentina since 1997, and given Argentina's depth and form, a win for Argentina seems likely.

Our Prediction: Argentina 3-1 Peru
