European champions Spain will look to get back to winning ways when they face Switzerland on Sunday.

In their first competitive fixture since winning the Euros, La Roja were held to a 0-0 draw by Serbia on Thursday in the Nations League.

Match Preview

Switzerland recent form

Switzerland impressed a lot of people with their performances at the Euros and were unfortunate to be eliminated at the quarter-final stage on penalties after a draw against England.

They progressed in a group that featured Hungary, Scotland and Germany before going on to defeat Italy 2-0 in the last 16.

In the Nations League on Thursday, they lost 2-0 against Denmark as both Nico Elvedi and Granit Xhaka were sent off.

Switzerland injury news

Elvedi and Xhaka are both unavailable after they received two bookings apiece versus Denmark.

Yan Sommer, Fabian Schar and Xherdan Shaqiri all retired from international football after the Euros.

Spain recent form

Spain were certainly deserved winners of the Euros as they remarkably won every single match on the way to glory.

They defeated Croatia, Spain and Albania in the group stage then Georgia, Germany and France in successive knockout stages.

In the final, they defeated England 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Mikel Oyarzabal.

They returned to competitive action in the Nations League on Thursday, but weren't at their best and drew 0-0 versus Serbia.

Spain injury news

Unai Simon, Alvaro Morata and Mikel Merino are all unavailable due to injury, while veteran star Jesus Navas announced his retirement from Spain after the Euros at the age of 38.

There are no fresh injury concerns from the Serbia draw.

Switzerland - Player to Watch?

Breel Embolo certainly has the physicality to get himself among the Spain defence to cause issues, but with Xhaka not there to provide the bullets, how much shooting will he be doing?

Spain - Player to Watch?

Even as Spain toiled against Serbia, Lamine Yamal was the best player on the pitch, sending four shots on goal and completing four dribbles.

Switzerland vs Spain - Prediction

Both sides were nowhere near their best in the last Nations League fixtures, but Spain at least dominated things against Serbia, just without finding the back of the net.

Without Xhaka, the Swiss may be a little lost.

Scoreline prediction - Switzerland 1-2 Spain
